VBS Offering & Pregnancy Help Center
The 2015 VBS at Birchman has been described as, “the best one ever, WOW!, Cool, I love coming to Vacation Bible School, I’m so glad you offer this, my children are singing all the songs, We loved the kids musical” . Was it the best one ever? We don’t really know, but, what we do know is a lot of hard work was involved. The planning began a year ago, building on the theme, Journey Off The Map, the key Scripture was Isaiah 30:21, “And your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it, ‘ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” (NASB). The focus was knowing and having God as our Guide, walking by faith and not feelings, keeping our focus fixed on Jesus our Savior, overcoming our fear of man with a Biblically healthy, robust, reverential fear of God, maintaining the unity of our fellowship with one another and faithfully persevering “ with a pure and simple devotion to Him.” All of this was done as God’s people focused on the Word of God, were engaged in intercessory prayer, encouraged communion with the Lord and carried out Christian service to those in attendance.
First, by intentionally giving a clear gospel presentation which resulted in 20 of the children making first time personal confessions of faith in the redemptive work of Christ for them individually, and also reaching outside our campus to our community, by providing The Pregnancy Help Center with Pack N’ Plays for their clients. Each of these units serve as crib, playpen, changing table and they are portable. This was accomplished though a healthy competition between our boys and girls on which group could raise the most money to purchase the units. The response to the challenge exceeded all expectations. Our Kids Ministry Team Leaders, Adrean and Jessica, said,” This year through our VBS offering, we wanted to impact the community where we live. Birchman has a close relationship with the Pregnancy Help Center. We were excited to be able to partner with them. It was with great excitement the kids gave over $2,300 towards the purchase of Pack n’ Plays. We were able to purchase 36 of them that the PHC will be able to offer families that choose life for their sweet babies.” The best VBS ever? If not, certainly one of the best! To God be the glory!
