Finding Joy in the Journey of Life
One Heart, Birchman’s Women’s Ministry, hosted ladies for a weekend focused on finding joy in life’s journey. Featured speaker & First Lady Deborah Pearle shares encouragement from her talks at the event.
Psalm 16 tells us that because of who Jesus is and what He has done to pay for our salvation we can live with hearts full of joy. Happiness depends on our circumstances but joy comes from a relationship with Jesus, who is joy! We choose our perspective and focus every day of our lives. The “lens” through which we look at our day is our choice and we would be wise to choose it carefully: Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
As we keep our focus on Jesus He equips us to recognize anything that attempt to steal our joy…joy that is based in Jesus. Lousy attitudes, doubt, depending on myself, overcommitting my schedule, and selfish motivation all rob us of our joy.
We have His joy regardless if we feel it or not. Joy is a fruit of His Spirit and dwells in the heart of a believer. The Source of our Joy is Jesus and the Evidence of His work in our lives is the hallmark of love, joy, and peace.
When we are complaining, comparing, criticizing, condemning, tearing people down, mumbling and groaning, we are not rejoicing. Choose joy instead! Be an encourager, be an example, be an exhorter and be intentional to do it daily.
Ten words that will change your life, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18a, NIV). The Lord equips us to walk in joy throughout life’s journey.
Deborah Pearle was the featured speaker at One Heart’s Fall Conference, Joy in the Journey. Mrs. Pearle leads a weekly women’s Morning Bible Study group and is the wife of Senior Pastor, Dr. Bob Pearle.
